Gnadenhutten Massacre

By December 13, 2021No Comments

A group of militiamen who hailed from Pennsylvania brutally killed 96 Indians that were Delaware Christianized. Historic accounts blame captain David Williamson who ordered the massacre following the deaths and kidnapping of white settlers – even though there was no evidence that the Delaware Indians they would kill were involved because this particular group of so-called “Christian Delaware” had recently returned from an outpost at Upper Sandusky to forage for crops and could not be responsible for the Pennsylvania attack. Captain Williamson was not interested in providing justice. He wanted Indian blood. 39 children, 29 women, and 28 men died by hammering their skulls with mallets from behind as they kneeled unarmed, praying and singing.
